Truthful Facts About Growing Marijuana Indoor Time Factor

True Facts About Growing Marijuana Indoors – Time factor, it takes longer than you think. This is the first in a series of articles that I call; True facts about growing in containers indoors.

I will post them in the next few weeks. I enjoy reading your comments and answering questions. Please use the comments section after each page or post. Thank you!!

It is an excellent idea; grow your own and save some money, you’ll know exactly what you’ve got, how it was grown, and you’ll save some of your hard-earned money in exchange for a little work.

The problem is how long it takes to get your first harvest instead of just running to the store (or finding the weed vendor) and buying a bag of weed every time you need it. The answer is to buy enough fridges to get you through the 147 days you’ll need before you can smoke your pot.

You can start your first crop from seed or from a female clone.

The seeds take anywhere from a few days to about 12 to germinate. Once they’ve germinated and grown for a few weeks in a peat ring, they’re ready to transplant into your large pot. I suggest 6 or 7 gallon pots, but use whatever suits your growing area. Read this article on pot size.

Once they are transplanted, start the flowering cycle (turn your lights on at 12 o’clock on and 12 o’clock off) to find out which plants are boys and which are girls.

It can take up to around 15 days for the girls to show. Once this happens you can discard the male plants and put the daughters back to the vegetative lighting schedule you are using.

Once you have found your girls; they will have tiny wisps of white hair and you will see tiny little buds start to grow, the boys will show little bags of balls, the boys will come out and go back to the vegetative cycle (GLR or 18 hours on 6 hours rest), and let them grow for another 50 days before they are ready for flowering.

When the plants return, they sprout a few oddly shaped leaves through the flowers. They don’t hurt anything; you can cut them or let them grow.

Restart the flowering cycle by switching back to the 12 hour on 12 hour off lighting schedule.

Of course, depending on the strain, your flowers reach their full potential and size when the trichomes begin to turn amber in 45-60 days or possibly longer.

REMARK: The times given are approximate and depend on the variety you are growing, the growing environment and your skills as an indoor gardener. For example; not adhering to a strict lighting cycle of 18 hours on and 6 hours off. For best growth you want the lights to be the same every day and you MUST refrain from disturbing your daughters when the lights are off. Let them be.

12 days to germinate

15 days in sowing

10 days of lights on the flowering cycle to sex the plants

Vegetative cycle of 50 days depending on your strain and your environment

60 days in the flower cycle.

Total = 147 days for your harvest.

You will also need an additional 14 days to dry and cure your buds, giving you a total of 161 days.

You can cheat a little and pick young little buds, but before you know it, you’ll have smoked the whole plant. A good way to dry the fresh buds you want to sample is to use a portable oil heater.
